My music career began when I switched from trumpet to drum set in 2009. I began playing on nothing but a borrowed snare drum and a practice pad for a year before getting my first drum with a year of lesson to prove my dedication. Upon acquiring a drum set i began playing in church, garage bands, recital concerts and anywhere else that would give me more playing experience. In high school I began studying jazz and playing in the jazz band and honor band at Christian Brothers High School where I also lead and managed the drumline and freelance work for various musical productions in the greater Sacramento area.
Upon graduating I looked towards Reno to continue my jazz drumming and percussion studies under Dr. Andrew Heglund while pursuing a Jazz Performance bachelors degree at the University of a Nevada, Reno (‘21) where I studied and performed Afro-Cuban hand drumming, as well as four mallet keyboard percussion (Vibraphone, Marimba, and glockenspiel) in jazz and classical settings, as well as being a part of the Wolf Pack marching band and playing in the top big band at UNR under direction of Dr. Josh Reed.
Throughout my career I have sought to challenge my current knowledge of music and diversifying my skill sets as a musician in an academic and performance environments.
