Shahriyar (Sha) Farshid is an Iranian-American classical composer and music teacher. Sha was born in a musical family and had his first piano lessons at the age of 8. He later studied piano and theory at the Tehran’s School of Music and Yerevan’s Komitas Conservatory. Moreover, he farther pursued studies in composition at Mozarteum University in Austria and electronic music and computer-assisted composition at Studio Fuer Elektronische Musik Mozarteum.

As a pedagogue, Sha has taught compositional subjects, ear training and piano for over 12 years to aspiring musicians and hobbyists. In an effort to create educational materials for teachers and students, Sha co-founded Penseé Music Publishing and serves as its contributor and artistic director. He is a polyglot, conducting classes in English, Armenian, Persian, and German.

His composition portfolio comprises of instrumental/vocal concert music, music theater, installations, soundscapes, as well as electronic pieces. Among others he has received commissions from the OENM, ArgeKultur, Museum der Moderne Salzburg, Mozarteum Stiftung and his music has been performed in eastern and western Europe, United States and Asia. Furthermore, in 2018 Shahriyar published 3 electronic works; Uniform Universe, Aurora Polaris, and Wind Through Mojave available on Apple Music and all other music platforms.
